Session 2
July 8th to 10th

Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Drought Tolerant Gardening

This session will focus on the introduction to climate science and climate change with a keen focus on climate justice. We will spend much time in the garden learning hands on techniques for creating regenerative landscapes that are drought tolerant.

 

Schedule:

Friday July 8th 5pm - 9pm at HCC

  1. 5:00pm Territory acknowledgment, Check in and housekeeping

  2. 5:30pm Get to know each other

    1. Introduce the Nettles Guild

    2. Introduce yourself (name, pronoun, what brought you here, hoping to get out of it)

    3. Things that make you angry and things that make you feel supported

  3. 6:00-6:30 Potluck dinner

  4. 6:30-8:30pm Lets climate change

Saturday July 9th 10am - 5pm at HCC

  1. 9:30-10:00 Check in and housekeeping

  2. 10:00-12:00 window - Garden Build rain water harvesting and treatment

  3. 12:00-1:00 Lunch

  4. 1:00-3:00 Hands on responses to climate change

  5. 2:45-3:00 Break

  6. 3:00-4:30 Introduction to climate justice with AJ Klein

  7. 4:30-4:45 Wrap-up and clean-up

Sunday July 10th 10am - 5pm at Norquay Orchard

  • 9:30-10:00 Check in and Housekeeping

  • 10:00-11:20 Projects and site assessments

  • 11:20-11:30 Break

  • 11:30-12:30 Singing with Vanessa Richards

  • 12:30-1:30 Lunch

  • 1:30-4:00 Garden Build

  • 4:00-4:30 Mindfulness

  • 4:30-5:00 Wrap-up and closing circle
